What’s a good way to save money on my Instrument Rating or Commercial Certificate?

One of the most effective ways to reduce the cost of an Instrument Rating or a Commercial Certificate is to use an FAA approved Advanced Aviation Training Device for a portion of the training.

The FAA allows 20 hr of AATD simulated instrument time toward an Instrument Rating and 50 hr of AATD toward total aeronautical experience for a Commercial rating.  The One G AATD simulator also allows for training in scenarios and locations that are not feasible in an aircraft while  tailoring training specifically to the pilot’s needs.  The cost saving using the simulator for an Instrument rating is approximately $1,800.
